Today the final of the first Film Olympiad with a strong Greek … aroma

Today, Sunday 8 May, from 18.30 to 22.30 at the Greek Film Archive(Iera Odos 48, Gazi, Free entrance) will be held the finals of the first “Film Olympiad”.

“Film Olympiad” started its action last year based in Greece in an international initiative, accepts short films (fiction, documentaries and animation) and in in just 10 months he has collected over 370 films from 62 countries. It is a unique one of a kind film festival – the first internationally with a competition system reminiscent of Grand Prix sports models, clubs and knockout stages, with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in 30 categoriesand with a host of additional innovations, which aim at a more exciting and transparent approach to films, both for filmmakers and viewers.

Candidates for medals stand out Oscar nominee Doug Roland (USA), the multi-award winning Bogdan Muresanu (Romania) who claim three medals (Best Director, Screenplay, Idea), the Spanish actor nominated for Goya Vincente Vergara award but also Greek actors and filmmakers, from whom the ascendant stands out Christos Sagias (candidate for 3 medals) and Lena Papaligoura and Konstantinos Markoulakis.

On Friday, in the historical cinema “Athena”, the 16th phase of the festival took part, followed by a discussion with the award-winning and up-and-coming directors, Antonis Morgan Konstantoudakis and Theodore Sarafi.
