London: A show about Russian oligarchs in the shadow of the war in Ukraine

Oscar nominee Peter Morgan screenwriter and creator of the series “The Crown » of Netflix, it’s to explore the world of Russian oligarchs in a new play at the Almeida Theater in London.

In the theatrical performance “Patriots” will star Tom Hollander as businessman Boris Berezovskywho was found dead at his home in Berkshire in 2013. According to the forensic examination, his death was the result of hanging.

Abramovich and Berezovsky were friends who ended up in the London Supreme Court in 2012 for one of the largest court battles ever fought. Berezovsky claims that his former co-worker in the oil company cheated him and extorted five billion dollars from him, but he lost the case.

“Patriots” is Morgan’s first work since The Audience (2013), starring Ellen Mirren as Queen of the United Kingdom and inspired the Netflix hit “The Crown”.

Rupert Gould, Almeida’s artistic director, will direct the playwhich is described as “an unshakable story of ambition and the dangers of faith and love” at the dawn of a new Russia where “today ‘s patriot can quickly become the traitor of tomorrow”.
