Anti-war oil paintings by Hiroki Takeda

by

The painter Hiroki Takeda is known for colorful illustrations of cats, dogs and other animals in which many plants are present as this is his artistic style-trademark. Recently, however, the Japanese artist has turned to a darker subject: anti-war symbolism and hopes for peace.

For his solo exhibition at a museum in Tokyo, Takeda created many works that escaped his typical theme, his gourd cats and dogs. Working with a darker color palette and with splashes of color here and there, his new oil paintings are dominated by warplanes, weapons and soldiers. Although not explicitly stated, it is clear that the artist was influenced by the events of the war in Eastern Europe. His depictions of weapons and armor, which have been occupied by nature, are reminders of the mistakes we made in the past (https://www.instagram.com/p/CcYVIELOw40/).

His solo exhibition Hiroki Takeda recently hosted the Tricera Museum in Tokyo and there his new work was presented next to his most typical works. On his Instagram account (www.instagram.com/hiroki_takeda1223/) we have the opportunity to get acquainted with the universe of the Japanese artist.
