Eurovision 2022: Russian hackers threaten to sabotage the votes to prevent Ukraine from winning

by

Russian hackers seem to be threatening Ukraine’s participation in Eurovision.

According to the DailyMail, the hacker group “Killnet”, supporters of Vladimir Putin with great activity on the Internet, wants to sabotage the Eurovision voting process so that Ukraine does not emerge victorious, which is considered the absolute favorite for victory.

An official post by the hacker group on Telegram states: “You can not vote online. “Maybe our attack on DDOS is to blame.”

In any case, a Eurovision representative clarifies that there is no risk of someone managing to “invade” the voting system of the event.

“Every year the voting system of the Eurovision Song Contest has a wide range of security measures to protect public participation from external influences. “Nothing has changed this year,” he said.

Ukraine, which is in the throes of war after the Russian invasion, participates with the Kalush Orchestra with the song Stefania in the competition.

He qualified for the final of the competition with the appearance of the participation on stage being adored by the audience.

“The song was written long before the war and was dedicated to my mother. After the invasion and the war, it took on other dimensions and many people began to identify it with Ukraine as a motherland. “It is now in the hearts of many Ukrainians and its popularity and symbolism has increased significantly,” the singer, Oleh Psiuk, had stated a few days ago.

It is noted that, if Ukraine wins Eurovision, Sweden has offered to host the competition, so as not to take place in a war zone.
