Comedian Chris Rock, 57, is using the comedy to talk about the slap he received from Will Smith, 53, at the Oscars ceremony in March, according to British newspaper The Telegraph. On Thursday (12), he joked about the lasting effects of slapping during a stand-up show in London.

“I’m fine, if anyone is wondering, I got most of my hearing back,” says the comedian. Elsewhere on the show he says, “Don’t expect me to talk about the bulls. I’ll talk about it at some point…on Netflix.”

After being assaulted by Smith, the comedian saw ticket sales for his comedy show skyrocket after the incident. The day after the slap, the website TickPick, where tickets are sold, informed him that public interest had grown a lot, surprising everyone.

The comedian was assaulted by Smith after making a joke about the shaved head of his wife, actress Jada Pinkett Smith. Smith didn’t like what he heard, went up to the stage and slapped the comedian in the face.

At the time, the public and the other guests of the ceremony were not sure if it would be a combined staging. Afterwards, Smith returned to his seat and yelled loud and clear, “Get my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth.”

Smith subsequently won the Oscar for best actor for “King Richard.” In his speech, crying a lot, the actor apologized to the Academy and the nominees around him, saying that he wants to be a recipient of love. “Love makes you do crazy things,” he said.
