A total of 186 young Athenians, aged 4-12, have the opportunity to take part in “Cultural Summer CampOf the Municipality of Athens – an innovative educational program that starts next June, with the participation of nine cultural institutions of the city. Through the Development and Tourism Promotion Company of the Municipality of Athens (EATA), an open call is addressed to single-parent families who either find it difficult to cope financially with the needs of everyday life, or do not have the appropriate supportive environment for the care and employment of their children during the summer. that schools remain closed.
Each position is equivalent to two weeks of creative work during the summer and specifically the period from June 20 to September 9.
In collaboration with the bodies participating in the “Summer Camp“, The Municipality of Athens gives children the opportunity to experience the cultural wealth of the city in an imaginative and creative way, to discover new activities, to develop their personality and to socialize.

Activities with emphasis on culture
The educational programs are related to group activities, with emphasis on culture and art. The children know the city of Athens and its special cultural heritage, participate in museum experiences with exhibits of educational and cultural value, take part in art workshops and constructions, take lessons in puppetry, music-kinetic education, dance, gymnastics, theatrical play. They also participate in storytelling, artistic crafts, construction with recyclable materials, folklore workshops, environmental awareness activities and philanthropic activities.
