Individual health insurance will rise 15%, the highest in 22 years

by

The ANS (National Supplementary Health Agency) approved this Wednesday (26) the annual adjustment of 15.5% for individual and family health plans. The official adjustment will be considered for the period referring to May 1, 2022 and April 30, 2023.

This is the highest increase since 2000, when the current adjustment model came into force. The highest percentage ever authorized by the ANS to date was 13.57% in 2016.

The percentage should impact about 8.9 million consumers of individual health plans in Brazil. The readjustment released by the ANS does not apply to collective business plans and membership plans.

In 2021, for the first time, individual plans had a negative adjustment (-8.19%) due to the drop in the use of supplementary health services and the consequent reduction in care expenses in 2020 due to the pandemic.
