Hospital Vila Nova Star, located in the south of São Paulo, recorded a 131% increase in the positivity rate among patients tested for Covid-19 in the last month. In April, the total number of infected people represented a share of 16% among the samples analyzed. In May, that number jumped to 37%.
The unit, which belongs to Rede D’or and is aimed at the A class, still recorded a total of five times greater hospitalized for the new coronavirus in the month of May, with ten hospitalizations caused by Covid-19. During the month of April, only two people were hospitalized due to the coronavirus infection.
For now, the profile of hospitalizations at Vila Nova Star has been composed of less serious cases.
“Despite the increase in hospitalizations and consultations, we have observed that patients in general are presenting much lighter conditions, with a very different severity profile than at other times of the pandemic”, says the director general of Vila Nova Star, the doctor Pedro Loretti.
