Opinion – Virada Psychedelic: Invitation to participate in research on DMT at UFRN

by

I received from friends from the Instituto do Cérebro at UFRN a request to publicize the call for volunteers for research with dimethyltryptamine (DMT, a psychoactive present in ayahuasca) inhaled at the Onofre Lopes University Hospital in Natal, RN. Read:

“Hello, my name is Marcelo Falchi, I am a psychiatrist and I am researching the effects of N,N-dimethyltryptamine (DMT) in healthy volunteers in the city of Natal.
At this stage of the research, we are recruiting healthy volunteers for an open-label trial using inhaled vaporized DMT, in preparation for further research in patients with treatment-resistant depression. Now we will verify the psychological effects, on physiological variables, biochemical markers and brain activity promoted by DMT.
Our group is coordinated by Professor Dráulio Barros de Araújo, from Instituto do Cérebro – UFRN. We are supported by the company Biomind Labs and our research takes place at Hospital Universitário Onofre Lopes, in Natal-RN.
If you are interested in participating in the survey as a healthy volunteer*, please complete the form at the link below.

DMT is an endogenous molecule (that is, it is naturally present inside the organism) with a potential effect of altering consciousness; its neuro and psychoplasticity effects are studied with therapeutic applications under investigation. If the subject interests you, follow our website below.

Please feel free to share with those who may be interested.

Thank you in advance for your request,
Marcelo [Falchi]

*If you are a patient with depression or a healthcare professional with patients who you believe could benefit from the research, in the same link you will be able to find a specific form for registration for the next stage of the research with patients.”
