An additional 77 cases of monkey flowers have been reported in the UK.

Health officials said the total number of confirmed cases was up to 302.

Experts say the risk remains “low” to the general public because it doesn’t spread easily.

Today’s dramatic increase is also due to the fact that the government does not release updates on the monkey case during long banking weekends.

The virus is spread through close physical contact and can live on surfaces such as bedding and towels.

Abnormal rashes and ulcers can be a sign of infection.

Many opportunities are still related to “big events and parties”, many of which are scheduled for the summer months.

Especially at risk are people with multiple sexual partners.

What are the symptoms of monkey flowers?

The rash usually appears 1 to 5 days after infection. It usually starts before it spreads across the face.

The rash can be mixed with chickenpox.

It starts out as raised dots that turn into small, fluid-filled bubbles. These blisters eventually form scars and then fall off.

The following symptoms may occur 1 to 21 days after infection.

  • high temperature
  • headache
  • ტკივილი Myalgia
  • Back pain
  • swollen gland
  • á²™ Ankle
  • Discomfort

Symptoms can usually last 2 to 4 weeks.

Dr Ruth Milton, UKHSA Senior Medical Adviser, said:

“We remind people to be on the lookout for new spots, sores and blisters on every part of our body.

“If this is suspected, especially if a new sexual partner has just been created, contact with others should be restricted and NHS 111 or local sexual health services should be contacted as soon as possible, but before admission. People who must call ahead.
