by

The City of São Paulo has been monitoring a suspected case of monkeypox since the 4th. The patient is a 26-year-old woman who, according to a preliminary investigation, has no recent travel history or contact with other infected people.

According to Covisa (Health Surveillance Coordination) of the Municipal Health Department, the woman is hospitalized in isolation in a public hospital in the city. Her health status is stable, according to the ministry.

The agency is also monitoring the people who live with the patient.

In Brazil, there are three suspected cases under investigation. The first two suspected cases were reported last Monday (30) by the Ministry of Health, one in Ceará and another in Santa Catarina. The third patient lives in Rio Grande do Sul.

Faced with the first suspected cases, the Ministry of Health has stated that “it is in contact with states to support monitoring and health surveillance actions”.

The federal government created a situation room to monitor the progress of the disease.
