With the advance of vaccination in Brazil and the improvement in the numbers of the pandemic, expectations are growing that Carnival can be held in 2022 with few restrictions. But fear of new waves of Covid-19 caused by crowds led dozens of city halls in the state of São Paulo to cancel the event.
Cities in the Northeast that host traditional carnivals, such as Recife, Olinda and Salvador, have yet to make a decision. On the other hand, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes (PSD), guarantees that the carioca party will take place normally.
In this Thursday (25) episode, Café da Manhã talks with Instituto Emilio Ribas Rosana Richtmann’s infectious disease specialist about what should be included in the authorities’ account to decide whether or not there will be Carnival in 2022.
