Brazil recorded 281 deaths from Covid and 12,191 cases of the disease, this Thursday (25). With this, the country has lost 613,697 lives and 22,055,608 people infected since the beginning of the pandemic.

Moving averages of deaths and cases are down, both by 17%, from two weeks ago. They are now 217 deaths a day and 9,450 infections a day.

The moving average of deaths completed, this Thursday, 25 days below 300 deaths per day.

Country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between sheet, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disseminate the numbers related to the pandemic of the new coronavirus. The information is collected by the consortium of press vehicles daily with the state Health Departments.

On Tuesday (23), the consortium made a mistake in disclosing that the country had registered 398 deaths. The correct number was 298. Consequently, the fourth (24) also had incorrect data, with 276 deaths instead of the 176 previously reported.

Vaccination data against Covid-19, also collected by the consortium, were updated in 25 states and the Federal District.

Brazil registered 1,592,298 doses of vaccines against Covid-19, this Thursday. According to data from the state health departments, there were 52,000 first doses, 1,274,821 second doses. In addition, 23,178 single doses and 242,299 booster doses were recorded.

In all, 158,447,349 people received at least the first dose of a vaccine against Covid in Brazil —127,075,618 of them have already received the second dose of the immunizing agent. Added to the single doses of Janssen’s vaccine against Covid, there are already 131,649,449 people with two doses or one dose of Janssen’s vaccine.

Thus, the country already has 74.28% of the population with the 1st dose and 61.72% of Brazilians with two doses or one dose of Janssen vaccine. Considering only the adult population, the values are, respectively, 97.75% and 81.22%.

Even those who received two doses or one dose of Janssen vaccine must maintain basic care, such as wearing a mask and social distance, experts say.

The initiative of the consortium of press vehicles took place in response to the attitudes of the Jair Bolsonaro (non-party) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed bulletins about the disease and took information off the air, with the interruption of the dissemination of total cases and deaths. In addition, the government released conflicting data.
