Which vaccinated people get sick and are treated with coronavirus? American study answers

by

Although our unvaccinated fellow citizens constitute the largest percentage of COVID-19 patients, there has been a recent increase in the number of hospitalizations with vaccinated individuals who have not received the booster dose. The question of which vaccinated people get sick and are treated is crucial. Recently, there has been a great deal of journalistic research in the United States.

The Doctors of the Therapeutic Clinic of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Stavroula Paschou (Assistant Professor of Endocrinology), Theodora Psaltopoulou (Professor of Therapeutic-Preventive Medicine) and Thanos Dimopoulos-Professor of EC its research.

Specifically, medical data from 21 million fully vaccinated people were studied. In all, 1.89 million cases of COVID-19 were fully vaccinated, 72,000 required hospitalization, and 20,000 died in the United States in the last year of vaccination. It has been found that among fully vaccinated people, those most likely to be treated for COVID-19 are the elderly and those with underlying medical conditions.

People with diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, kidney disease or a weakened immune system have been found to be about twice as likely to be vaccinated as those without the disease. Among fully vaccinated individuals without underlying diseases only 7.5% of cases required hospitalization, while among patients with chronic kidney disease for example 25% of them were hospitalized. The elderly are especially vulnerable, because with age the immune system is weakened. About 80% of deaths from disease after complete vaccination are in people 65 and older.

These results demonstrate the importance of the booster dose, but also the high sensitivity that the medical community and the state should show to the elderly and to people with underlying medical problems.
