Hatzidakis to SKAI: What bonuses will be paid before Christmas

by

An all-time record in the issuance of pensions will be recorded in 2021, as the Minister of Labor, Kostis Hatzidakis, stated to SKAI and the show “Kalimera”, noting that they will exceed 200,000.

“It appears from the Ombudsman that 48% of the complaints throughout the State concern EFKA. And we are changing that. I pledge that by the end of the first half of 2022 the issue of awarding pensions will have been fully addressed. At the moment, we have dropped to 90,000 outstanding pensions. We have no room for these delays to continue. In this context, we will soon bring a bill that will make EFKA more efficient and more social “, he added.

Regarding the extraordinary allowance announced by the Prime Minister last Wednesday from the floor of Parliament, Mr. Hatzidakis pointed out that “due to the crisis created in the energy market and the additional burden on households, the Prime Minister decided to proceed in the additional benefits and is really on the budget endurance threshold “.

In this context, he explained that it was decided to take it to the health workers who bear the burden of the coronavirus crisis, the micro-pensioners who are under pressure and the disabled. “Among the benefits that will be given now, before Christmas, is the double payment of the guaranteed minimum income that concerns those people who are the poorest in society,” he added.

Asked if they will receive the allowance and those who receive a temporary pension, he pointed out that the details will be clarified this week with a legislative initiative of the co-responsible ministries, Labor and Finance. He clarified, however, that the allowance will be calculated on the basis of the main pension and not the supplementary one.

Regarding the retrospectives, the Minister of Labor stated that yesterday 12,500-13,000 retirees who retired after 2016 were paid and another 16,500 people will receive them by the end of the year. “There are still some pending issues in 1/10 of the old retirees. Of these, it will be closed by the end of the year and half will be left for later, as a handwriting process is required. However, by the end of the year, 95% of the retirees will have been covered “, he underlined.

Finally, regarding the increase of the minimum wage, although Mr. Hatzidakis refrained from revealing its amount, he stated that despite the suggestions of the Bank of Greece and KEPE, a symbolic increase of 2% was given in the summer and now given that the economy has entered growth rates, is a commitment of the government to have a reflection in the pockets of workers. “There will be a consultation and we will decide where it will take place. “We are trying to find a balance, as is the case in all European countries.”
