The City of São Paulo said this Tuesday (5) that it had sent a letter to the Ministry of Health asking for the inclusion of people aged 35 and over in the calendar for applying the fourth dose of vaccine against Covid-19.

The application of the second booster dose in those who are over 40 years old has been carried out since the 27th in the cities of São Paulo, including the capital.

According to the Municipal Health Department, the city has vaccines to start immunizing the new public, estimated at 1 million people.

Asked about the request from the capital of São Paulo, the Ministry of Health did not respond until the publication of this report.

Some governments have already anticipated. In the Federal District, for example, those aged 35 and over can take the fourth dose since the last Friday (1st). There, there are about 270,000 people between the ages of 35 and 39 who can be immunized.

The City Hall of Vitória, in Espírito Santo, has opened vacancies for a fourth dose for those over 30 years old. The one in Manaus released, last week, the reinforcement for all adults.

Across the country, health professionals from 18 years of age can already receive the second booster dose since last month.

The third booster dose (equivalent to the fifth dose) is being administered to people with a high degree of immunosuppression aged 50 years and over. They are patients undergoing cancer treatment, transplant patients, patients undergoing hemodialysis and HIV-positive patients, for example.

Also according to the folder, 7.7 million doses were applied as a first booster, equivalent to 81.3% of vaccine coverage. Currently, anyone over the age of 18 can take this third dose.

According to the federal government, Pfizer, Janssen and Astrazeneca vaccines can be used, regardless of the dose applied previously.

According to the municipal ministry, about 627,000 people did not show up to receive the second dose against Covid-19 in the capital.
