The City of São Paulo begins this Tuesday (12) to apply the fourth dose of the vaccine against Covid-19 for the age group from 35 to 39 years old. According to municipal management, it is estimated that approximately 1 million doses will be applied to this population.

The capital had filed a request with the Ministry of Health to include this age group in the calendar of the second vaccination booster last Tuesday (5). According to the national schedule, this vaccination stage is allowed for people aged 40 years or older, but states and municipalities can change the schedule according to the availability of vaccines.

To receive the fourth dose, in addition to age, the person must have taken the first booster of the vaccine — or third dose — at least four months ago.

On June 27, the city made the reinforcement available for people over 40 years old. Before that, on June 22, the fourth dose was released for those over 45 years old.

Health professionals over 18 years of age and immunosuppressed adolescents and adults can also have the vaccine booster in the city.

According to the city hall, more than 33.5 million doses of vaccine against Covid have already been applied in the capital of São Paulo. Regarding the fourth dose, the management Ricardo Nunes (MDB) states that coverage is found in about 58% of the public eligible for the booster.

Vaccination continues to be done at health posts. On the city hall website, it is possible to access the complete list of places, in addition to having information about the vaccination queues.

Other places already provide vaccination boosters for citizens over 35 years of age. An example is the Federal District, which since July 1st has applied the fourth dose in this age group. Another case is Manaus, which has already released the second vaccine booster for all adults.

The Federal Government indicates that the fourth dose should be made with Pfizer, Janssen or Astrazeneca vaccines, regardless of the dose applied previously.
