International Legion: Russian artillery outnumbers Ukrainian by 8 to 1

by

“We are entering a phase of the war where our disadvantage vis-à-vis the Russian forces, in terms of heavy weapons and artillery, is particularly felt,” explained a spokesman for the International Legion.

The heavy artillery of Russia is outnumbered by eight to one of Ukrainian, which puts Ukrainian forces at a disadvantage, a representative of the International Legion of Ukraine claimed today.

Damien Magrou, a spokesman for the unit that foreign nationals have joined, told a news conference in Kyiv that more weapons are needed from Ukraine’s Western partners to close that gap.

“We are entering a phase of the war where our disadvantage vis-à-vis the Russian forces, in terms of heavy weapons and artillery, is particularly felt,” he explained.

According to Magrou, the multiple launch missile systems M142 HIMARS that the US supplies Ukraine with has an impact on the battlefield. “We are already seeing the results,” he commented.

Magru raised concerns about the fate of foreign fighters captured in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, which is backed by Ukraine. Three foreign nationals who served in other units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have been sentenced to death by pro-Russian authorities in Donetsk.

“It’s very troubling for us to see the tooling of captives,” Magru said.
