Brazil recorded 153 deaths from Covid-19 and 24,268 cases of the disease this Saturday (23). With this update, the country reaches 676,979 lives lost and 33,578,741 people infected with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The moving average of cases stood at 42,147 infections per day, down 28% from two weeks ago. The average number of deaths now stands at 232 per day, which represents a situation of stability, that is, without variations greater than 15%, also in relation to the data of two weeks ago.

The country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between SheetUOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disclose the numbers related to the new coronavirus pandemic.

The information is compiled by the consortium of press vehicles daily with the state Health Departments.

The consortium of press vehicles stopped updating the numbers of vaccinated against Covid-19 on weekends and holidays. On business days, the data will be updated normally. The measure aims to avoid inaccuracies in the numbers provided to the reader.

The change occurs due to problems in the consolidation of vaccination data by state secretariats. Several states do not update the total number of vaccinated on weekends and holidays, and even those that do sometimes report outdated numbers, which do not correspond to reality and are usually corrected in the following days.
