by

The epidemiological picture of Greece, as reflected in the latest data presented today, December 2, by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), causes intense concern.

In particular, as shown in the updated map recorded the index of coronary cases, diagnostic tests and positivity, now the whole country is in “deep red”.

The same data are recorded on the map with the number of cases per 100,000 population.

Regarding the positivity index, in the “orange”, with a percentage from 1% to 3.9%, are the whole of Macedonia, Thrace, Epirus, Thessaly, Etoloakarnania, Achaia and Ilia. In “green”, with a percentage of less than 1% of positive cases of coronavirus are Central Greece, including Attica, the islands of the northeastern Aegean, the Ionian islands, the Cyclades, Crete and the Dodecanese.

At the same time, the ECDC puts Europe in the “red”.

Omicron variant

The Omicron variant is likely to dominate Europe “in the coming months”, causing more than half of Covid-19 cases, according to a document from the European Center for Disease Control and Prevention (ECDC).

“Based on mathematical models developed by the ECDC, there are indications that Omicron is likely to cause more than half of all SARS-CoV-2 infections in the coming months in the European Union and the 27-nation European Economic Area. EU members and Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. “Preliminary data show a significant advantage of the new variant over the Delta variant, which has been dominant so far,” the ECDC said in a statement.
