Brazil recorded 254 deaths from Covid and 29,945 cases of the disease, this Wednesday (10). With that, the country reached 680,852 lives lost and 34,095,595 people infected with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The moving average of cases has been falling for 20 days and now stands at 24,038 infections per day (a 32% decrease from two weeks ago). The average number of deaths remained stable (no variations above 15%) and now stands at 217 deaths per day.
The country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between Sheet, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and publish figures related to the coronavirus pandemic. The information is collected by the consortium of press vehicles daily with the State Health Departments.
In all, 180,260,908 people received at least the first dose of a vaccine against Covid in Brazil. Added to the single doses of Janssen’s Covid vaccine, there are already 169,487,637 people with both doses or one dose of Janssen vaccine.
Thus, the country already has 83.91% of the population with the 1st dose and 78.89% of Brazilians with two doses or one dose of the Janssen vaccine.
So far, 102,242,936 people have taken the third dose and 24,173,160 the fourth.
The consortium also gathers the record of vaccine doses administered to children. With the expansion of the age group that can receive the vaccine against Covid, the consortium now presents the population from 3 to 11 years old immunized. In this range, the partially immunized share (with only the first dose of vaccine received) is 51.18% and the one that received the second dose is 33.04%.
Even those who received both doses or one dose of the Janssen vaccine should maintain basic care, such as wearing a mask and social distancing, say experts.
The initiative of the consortium of press vehicles occurred in response to the attitudes of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed newsletters about the disease and took information from the air, with the interruption of the disclosure of the totals of cases and deaths. In addition, the government has released conflicting data.
