Grigorakos: “Yes” to compulsory vaccination for all – Survinos: We will have more cases of Omicron

by

Pulmonologist-intensivist Leonidas Grigorakos expressed his belief that vaccination should become mandatory for everyone, speaking on SKAI and the show Today.

“No more delay, I believe that we must now go to a horizontal obligation, always with some exceptions”, stressed Mr. Grigorakos

He said that there should be a national mobilization and the political system to take a serious and responsible position to stop the pandemic.

In fact, he stated that a year after he became seriously ill with coronavirus, he still goes to a rehabilitation center for physiotherapy and exercise.

At the same time, the professor of virology George Sourvinos spoke about the zero patient with Omicron mutation that was found in Crete.

“The sample from the suspected case was examined on the same day it came to the laboratory. No other suspicious case exists in the laboratory so far. “The tracking was done immediately as it was a high-risk case”, he said for the detection of the mutated strain.

As he explained, the appearance of the case was expected, but it is positive that we know its origin and that it is from an area where the stem grows.

“We are constantly testing all his contacts and if any of them test positive we will know quickly,” he said.

However, the professor estimated that in a short time we will have other cases of Omicron in the community, as there is mobility due to the holidays. “It is inevitable because the mutations travel fast,” he added.

“What worries the Omicron strain is the large number of mutations it gives, while it has characteristics we have never seen before: the possibility of higher transmissibility, escape from vaccines, more serious morbidity. All this, of course, creates conflicting views. We will have an answer after laboratory and clinical studies “, he explained.
