Brazil records 155 deaths from Covid and more than 5 thousand cases

by

Brazil recorded 155 deaths from Covid and 5,493 cases, this Monday (15). As a result, the country has lost 681,705 lives and 34,177,137 people infected with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Acre did not release data on the pandemic on Monday.

On weekends and Mondays, the data are smaller, due to delays in notification at the health secretariats.

The moving average of cases remains down and now stands at 20,354, down 38% from two weeks earlier. The average number of deaths is now 209, a situation of stability, that is, with no variation of more than 15% compared to two weeks ago.

The country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between Sheet, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and publish figures related to the coronavirus pandemic. The information is collected by the consortium of press vehicles daily with the state Health Departments.

In all, 180,369,043 people received at least the first dose of a vaccine against Covid in Brazil. Added to the single doses of Janssen’s Covid vaccine, there are already 169,608,333 people with both doses or one dose of Janssen vaccine.

Thus, the country already has 83.96% of the population with the 1st dose and 78.95% of Brazilians with two doses or one dose of the Janssen vaccine.

To date, 101,125,829 people have taken the third dose and 26,114,955 the fourth.

The consortium also gathers the record of vaccine doses administered to children. With the expansion of the age group that can receive the vaccine against Covid, the consortium now presents the population from 3 to 11 years old immunized. In this range, the partially immunized share (with only the first dose of vaccine received) is 51.86% and the one that received the second dose is 34.42%.

Even those who received both doses or one dose of the Janssen vaccine should maintain basic care, such as wearing a mask and social distancing, say experts.

The initiative of the consortium of press vehicles occurred in response to the attitudes of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed newsletters about the disease and took information from the air, with the interruption of the disclosure of the totals of cases and deaths. In addition, the government has released conflicting data.
