Brazil recorded 115 deaths by Covid and 5,405 cases of the disease, this Monday (6). As a result, the country has lost 615,789 lives and 22,146,004 people infected with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The lower data is due to the fact that, on Sundays, Mondays and holidays, there are notification delays in the health departments.

While the moving average of deaths showed a decrease, in relation to data from two weeks ago, that of cases is stable —for the 7th day in a row at around 8,000—, at 8,996 daily.

The average death toll now stands at 194 deaths a day, down 16% from the figure two weeks ago.

Country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between sheet, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disseminate the numbers related to the pandemic of the new coronavirus. The information is collected by the consortium of press vehicles daily with the state Health Departments.

Covid-19 vaccination data, also collected by the consortium, were updated in 20 states and the Federal District.

Brazil registered 577,384 doses of vaccines against Covid-19, this Monday. According to data from the state departments of Health, there were 7,517 first doses, 427,911 second doses. In addition, 1,118 single doses and 140,838 booster doses were recorded.

There were negative records of first doses in Ceará (-1,405), in Goiás (-4,612) and in Rio Grande do Sul (-69,148).

In all, 159,618,843 people received at least the first dose of a vaccine against Covid in Brazil —132,513,379 of them have already received the second dose of the immunizing agent. Added to the single doses of the Janssen vaccine against Covid, there are already 137,095,914 people with the two doses or with one dose of the Janssen vaccine.

Thus, the country already has 74.83% of the population with the 1st dose and 64.27% of Brazilians with two doses or one dose of Janssen vaccine. Considering only the adult population, the values are, respectively, 98.47% and 84.58%.

Even those who received two doses or one dose of Janssen’s vaccine must maintain basic care, such as wearing a mask and social distance, experts say

The initiative of the consortium of press vehicles took place in response to the attitudes of the Jair Bolsonaro (non-party) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed bulletins about the disease and took information off the air, with the interruption of the dissemination of total cases and deaths. In addition, the government released conflicting data.
