by

Brazil recorded, this Tuesday (20), 87 deaths from Covid and 7,676 cases of the disease. As a result, the country has lost 685,569 lives and 34,644,407 people infected with Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.

Moving averages of deaths and cases remain down from two weeks ago. The average number of deaths — down for 17 consecutive days — is now 73 per day, down 30%. The average number of infections is 7,578 per day (58% reduction).

The country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between Sheet, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and publish figures related to the coronavirus pandemic. The information is collected by the consortium of press vehicles daily with the State Health Departments.

In all, 181,104,395 people received at least the first dose of a vaccine against Covid in Brazil. Adding the single doses of Janssen vaccine, there are 170,558,436 people with both doses or one dose of Janssen vaccine.

Thus, the country already has 84.3% of the population with the 1st dose and 79.39% of Brazilians with two doses or one dose of the Janssen vaccine.

So far, 103,690,781 people have taken the third dose, and 29,765,874 the fourth.

The initiative by the consortium of press vehicles occurred in response to the attitudes of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed newsletters about the disease and took information from the air, with the interruption of the disclosure of the totals of cases and deaths.
