Next Tuesday (27), the Sheet promotes a seminar to discuss the impacts of the pandemic on access to treatment and diagnosis of lung cancer. The event, starting at 3 pm, will be broadcast live and the public will be able to follow through this page.
In the last two years, Covid-19 has led to an increase in the number of chest imaging tests, such as X-rays and CT scans, which has led to a rise in the detection of traditionally underreported lung diseases, including cancer.
The estimate of the Inca (National Cancer Institute) is that there are more than 30,000 new cases of lung cancer each year in the triennium 2020-2022. However, only one in four patients has access to the diagnosis.
Regular exams, for early diagnosis, are indicated for people at high risk, such as smokers and ex-smokers.
The seminar will discuss the challenges of treating lung tumors and strategies to expand patients’ access to tests and medications.
With the mediation of journalist Carol Marcelino, the event is sponsored by Dasa Oncologia. The public can participate by sending questions and comments by WhatsApp, at number (11) 99648-3478.
