The executive secretary of the Ministry of Health, Rodrigo Cruz, said that the airports in São Paulo (Cumbica), Rio de Janeiro (Galeão) and the Federal District (Brasilia International Airport) will have vaccination posts against Covid-19. The application of doses should start this Monday (13).
In Brazil, according to Rodrigo Cruz, around 100,000 passengers arrive per week. The main airports are in Guarulhos (Cumbica), Galeão and Brasília. Guarulhos airport concentrates 80% of this flow of people. The statement was given this Monday (9) at the Ministry of Health.
“I’ve already talked to the three municipal secretaries, from the Federal District, Guarulhos and the secretary from Rio de Janeiro and everyone liked the idea. They found the idea interesting and we have the goal of starting this vaccination this Monday. Vaccines they already have it. I’ve already talked to Anvisa. The Ministry of Infrastructure, through the Civil Aviation Secretariat, has already made or will make contact with the airports to discuss the best space,” he said.
The measures will be taken after the new rules that come into force for the entry of travelers into Brazil. Those who arrive on international flights and are not immunized against Covid-19 will have to present the disease test, carried out up to 72 hours before boarding, and comply with a five-day quarantine.
At the land border, proof of vaccination or negative test will be required.
The norms are contained in an ordinance published this Thursday (9) in the Official Gazette of the Union, signed by ministers Ciro Nogueira (Casa Civil), Marcelo Queiroga (Health), Anderson Torres (Justice) and Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas (Infrastructure).
The update takes place in the midst of the emergence of omicron, a variant classified as of concern by the WHO (World Health Organization).
Rodrigo Cruz informed that the passenger who does not present the vaccination certificate and chooses to do the quarantine will need to inform it on the DSV (Traveller’s Health Declaration) form, collected by Anvisa.
“The person will then inform the address that will fulfill the quarantine. At this address, Anvisa informs the Cievs, which is a surveillance center coordinated by the health department, which, in turn, will inform the state Cievs and which, in turn, it counts on the support of the local surveillances”, he explained.
Cruz clarified that the norms will be reviewed in 30 days by the Ministries of Health, Justice, Infrastructure and the Civil House.
“Monitoring is essential for us to check what action to take. If there is a worsening of the epidemiological scenario, the ministry, of course, will review and suggest to the collegiate of ministers to review this position in light of this worsening of the epidemiological scenario,” he said.
