Brazil recorded 229 deaths by Covid, this Friday (10), and completed 40 days with a moving average of deaths below 300 deaths per day. The country has also documented 7,293 cases of the disease. The data, however, was affected by a cyber attack on the pages of the Ministry of Health, which took place in the early hours of Friday. As a result, the information is incomplete.
In the early hours of Friday, the ministry’s website was hacked. The problem also affected the system for reporting cases of the disease, compromising data dissemination. Four states did not release any data on cases and deaths, but others released incomplete information.
With this Friday’s data, the country reached 616,733 lives lost and 22,182,820 people infected by Sars-CoV-2 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The moving averages of deaths and cases fell by, respectively, 183 and 7,856.
Country data, collected up to 8 pm, are the result of collaboration between leaf, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disseminate the numbers related to the pandemic of the new coronavirus. The information is collected by the consortium of press vehicles daily with the state Health Departments.
Data on vaccination against Covid-19 were also affected, in several states, by the attack on the ministry’s website. In any case, the information was at least partially updated in 14 states and the Federal District.
Brazil registered 923,480 doses of vaccines against Covid-19, this Friday. According to data from the state health departments, there were 92,428 first doses, 338,191 second doses. In addition, 46,180 single doses and 446,681 booster doses were recorded.
In all, 160,060,091 people have received at least the first dose of a vaccine against Covid in Brazil —134,600,028 of them have already received the second dose of the immunizing agent. Added to the single doses of the Janssen vaccine against Covid, there are already 139,229,299 people with both doses or one dose of the Janssen vaccine.
Thus, the country already has 75.03% of the population with the 1st dose and 65.27% of Brazilians with two doses or one dose of Janssen vaccine. Considering only the adult population, the values are, respectively, 98.75% and 85.90%.
Even those who received two doses or one dose of Janssen’s vaccine must maintain basic care, such as wearing a mask and social distance, experts say
The initiative of the consortium of press vehicles took place in response to the attitudes of the Jair Bolsonaro (non-party) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed bulletins about the disease and took information off the air, with the interruption of the dissemination of total cases and deaths. In addition, the government released conflicting data.
