The Professor of Pediatrics and member of the Vaccination Committee, George Chrousos, spoke to SKAI about the vaccination of children aged 5-11, which starts on December 15.
The professor stressed that all children, especially 5-11 year olds, should be vaccinated, as in addition to getting sick, they are also at risk of developing MIS-C syndrome.
As he explained, it is a dangerous syndrome (Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome, has clinical features similar to Kawasaki disease and Toxic Shock Syndrome), which occurs in children who are infected with the coronavirus and clog the blood vessels, even those of the heart. . This syndrome is more common in children under 12 years of age.
Regarding vaccines, Mr. Chrousos said that children are given 1/3 of the dose received by the adult and is harmless.
He even said that children respond much better to the vaccine, make many antibodies that last longer and may not need a second dose.
He also noted that mRNAs are much better than older vaccines. As he explained, the mRNA “sits” in the body for only 10 minutes. It enters the cytoplasm, produces the protein to fight the virus and disappears.
