The Ministry of Health said this Sunday (12) that it has completed the process of recovering the Covid-19 vaccination records and that no data has been lost.
The ministry said it is working to re-establish Covid-19’s registration systems and issue of immunization certificates.
“The Ministry of Health informs that the process for recovering the records of Brazilians vaccinated against Covid-19 has been completed, without loss of information. All data were successfully recovered,” the ministry said in a statement.
“At the moment, the folder is working to re-establish as soon as possible the systems for recording and issuing certificates of vaccination,” said Saúde.
The Ministry of Health’s website went offline at dawn on Friday (10). Some government functionality remains unavailable, such as ConnectSUS, which is used to access and issue Covid-19’s vaccination record.
The ministry said on Saturday (11) that the complete functioning of the systems should be restored this week.
The Federal Police opened an investigation to investigate the case and assess the extent of the cyber attack perpetrated against different sectors of the federal government since Friday.
The government has made available a website with guidelines for the temporary issuance of proof of vaccination from Covid-19.
The Health recommendation is to look for the vaccination post where the doses were applied to request a second copy of the National Vaccination Card. There is the possibility to prove the vaccination through the physical card.
In addition, many states have their own tools, although those using the Ministry of Health database may also be experiencing instability.
The Health also informed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will still send a notice to countries that will receive flights originating in Brazil to warn about the temporary unavailability of the system.
The Brazilian government will ask these countries to accept the document in physical format.
The Ministry of Health also indicated websites of the governments of Espírito Santo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Rio Grande do Norte, São Paulo and the capital cities of Curitiba and Salvador for issuing the certificate.
An invasion of the portal of the Enap Virtual School (National School of Public Administration), linked to the Ministry of Economy, was reported. Other agencies have also reported instability on their websites in recent days, and police are tracking each situation.
In the case of Health, the attack compromised some systems in the folder, such as the e-SUS Notifica, the Information System of the National Immunization Program (SI-PNI), in addition to the Connect SUS.
After the hacker attack on the Ministry of Health, the Bolsonaro government announced that it would postpone the application of the new rules for the entry of travelers to Brazil by a week. The measures would take effect this Saturday (11), and travelers without vaccine would quarantine for five days.
But the new form of control was anticipated by an injunction by Luís Roberto Barroso, minister of the STF (Supreme Federal Court). He even ordered the government to bar the unvaccinated, with some exceptions. These rules will apply to the bodies involved if they are notified, which should take place next Monday (13).
The Ministry of Health’s website went offline in the early hours of this Friday. When trying to access the portal, users found a message stating that the system data had been copied and deleted and was in the hands of the attacking group.
“Contact us if you want the data back,” the message read. Minutes later, the message disappeared, but the site only went back online on Friday afternoon. Still, several features are still unavailable.
TEMPORARY ISSUE OF VACCINE PROOF
- Ministry of Health guides seeking health centers to issue a second copy of proof of vaccination from Covid-19
- Government also advises to search for state and city hall websites and applications to retrieve the document
- Itamaraty will notify countries that receive flights from Brazil about hacker attacks and ask for a physical certificate to be accepted at airports and borders
