MPF recommends that Saúde buy vaccine against Covid for children within 20 days

by

The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office recommended that the Ministry of Health purchase, within 20 days, the sufficient amount of vaccines against Covid-19 to be applied to all children aged 6 months and older.

According to the recommendation, the folder should provide and distribute doses of Coronavac and Pfizer, the two immunizers that Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) has approved so far for this age group.

Delay or insufficiency in the supply of doses exposes children to the risk of death or serious sequelae, according to the recommendation.

“In response to a letter from the MPF, the Ministry of Health itself recognizes that the numbers of cases and deaths from Covid-19 in children are significant, but does not establish any relationship between these data and the occurrence of comorbidities. ceased to present justifications for maintaining the restriction adopted in the application of doses”, said the MPF, in a note.

In addition to the 20 days for the effective purchase and distribution of vaccines to children, the MPF established a five-day period for the Ministry of Health to present an action plan with the necessary measures to regularize stocks.

In case of non-compliance with the recommendation, the folder is subject to legal measures, such as the filing of a public civil action.

Such as Sheet showed, at least seven capitals had to temporarily suspend the vaccination of children aged 3 and 4 against Covid. Cities such as Belo Horizonte, Aracaju, Belém, Maceió, Recife, Brasília and Rio de Janeiro are included in the list.

The missing vaccine is Coronavac, produced by the Butantan Institute and approved in July by Anvisa to be distributed to this age group.
