Last week, the news that the PL 399-2015 would be returned to the Chamber of Deputies caused an uproar – mainly on the part of businessmen. This Monday, the 1st, the president of the Special Commission on Cannabis, Paulo Teixeira (PT-SP) said that this is not the case, that “it was a misunderstanding”.
According to him, “some people really understood that the PL of Cannabis (what’s it called) would go straight to the plenary. However, in fact, the appeal will first be voted on – and not the Bill. The instrument asks for a vote in the Chamber of Deputies”
Explaining in kids, how PL 399 – 2015 was approved by the Special Committee on Medicinal Cannabis in June. The matter could go straight to the appreciation of the senators. A few days later, the opposition, those who are against the text, filed an appeal to impede the natural process.
“From the point of view of the maturity of the text, there are no improvements to be made to justify this. The project was prepared, matured and approved by the Commission”, says Teixeira. Going to the Chamber of Deputies, it seems, is part of a ploy to create more difficulties. The fate of the PL will be decided early this month.
