Necrosis in singer Naldo’s rhinomodelation should leave a scar

The principle of necrosis caused in the skin of singer Naldo Benny’s nose by the application of hyaluronic acid for remodeling should leave a scar. The use of the substance for rhinomodelation, a procedure the singer went through, is not indicated by doctors.

The SBD (Brazilian Society of Dermatology) said that only dermatologists and plastic surgeons can perform this type of intervention, considered invasive – in Naldo’s case, the application would have been made by a dentist.

“It happened for two reasons: lack of knowledge of the anatomy of that region and because of the technician. You have to have a lot of asepsis, clean the region well, it is a procedure that seems simple, but it is not. It is invasive, a medical procedure”, he says Ediléia Bagatin, coordinator of the cosmiatry department at SBD and professor at the dermatology department at Unifesp (Federal University of São Paulo).

The doctor says that using filler to change the nose and thus not having to operate is not recommended.

“It’s a very irrigated area, it has many vessels, with a high risk of complications, even in the hand of a trained professional. The problem is that after necrosis there will be a scar in this region”, says Bagatin.

In the case of the singer, there are two possible causes for necrosis.

The first is that it was caused by the injection of a very high amount of the product, which constricts the vessels and cuts off blood supply to the skin through the artery.

Another hypothesis is that hyaluronic acid was injected into the artery, causing an obstruction and preventing blood from reaching the region.

“Hyaluronic acid is a great substance, used for various types of fillers, but to do it on the face you need to know the anatomy, there are regions that are more dangerous and that we need to avoid, one of them is the nose”, highlights the dermatologist .

According to Bagatin, complications from necrosis are the main type of problem associated with the use of fillers. However, she adds, they are not so common, and cases may be associated with application in sensitive regions by professionals who are not doctors, such as dentists, biomedical professionals and other health professionals.

“In the hands of a well-trained person, such as dermatologists and plastic surgeons, it is not a common event, especially when you respect the region, because there are several areas on the face with lower risk [que o nariz]”, says teacher.

Wendell Uguetto, plastic surgeon at SBCP (Brazilian Society of Plastic Surgery) and Hospital Albert Einstein, in turn, says that, from the images, the singer’s procedure also appears to be infected.

“The region is quite swollen and edematous, perhaps it had a degree of skin damage plus an association of infection. It is not possible to know if the edema came first with secondary infection or the beginning of necrosis, and then it became edematous”, says the doctor.

The surgeon points out that hyaluronic acid is a very tolerable product, absorbed by the body and easy to remove, but that the neglected use by all types of health and aesthetic professionals ends up causing damage due to lack of anatomical knowledge. “It’s rare to have necrosis and infection. But, when that happens, these complications are serious, because they cause irreversible aesthetic consequences”, says Uguetto.

For those who intend to undergo facial harmonization, doctors recommend looking for specialized professionals who can quickly treat any consequences resulting from the process. It’s also important to have good references from people you know and not choose who will touch your face just because of the photos posted on social networks.

Naldo, author of hits such as “Amor de Chocolate”, is a symbol of beauty for the new generation of artists and boyfriend of model Ellen Cardoso, Moranguinho, participant of the current edition of the reality show A Fazenda. When he posted on Sunday (27) videos and photos with a swollen nose, with dark spots and flaking, fans were worried and filled the singer’s networks with comments with questions about what had happened to his face.

On Monday (28), he returned to sharing videos showing the injectable anticoagulant that he has been applying to his abdomen to recover from the problem with the skin on his nose. He also said that the medical prescription included the antibiotic Clavulin and the vasodilator Sildenafil Citrate, the principle of the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra, also used to treat ulcers and necrosis.

He thanked the fans for their concern and said that the wound was not hurting so much anymore.
