Moving averages of deaths and cases of Covid continue to rise in Brazil

by

Brazil recorded 144 deaths from Covid and 50,794 cases of the disease this Friday (16). With that, the country reaches 691,776 lives lost and 35,874,528 infected since the beginning of the pandemic.

The moving average of deaths is 134 per day, up 41% compared to the data from 14 days ago. The moving average of cases is 40,867 per day, up 48% over the same period.

The data for the country, collected until 8 pm, are the result of a collaboration between SheetUOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disseminate numbers related to the coronavirus pandemic.

Five days ago, it was not possible to collect data in Rio de Janeiro due to server problems.

The information is collected daily by the consortium of press vehicles with the state Health Secretariats.

In all, 182,415,426 people received at least the first dose of a Covid vaccine in Brazil.

Added to the single doses of Janssen’s vaccine, there are 172,376,091 people with both doses or one dose of Janssen’s vaccine.

Thus, the country already has 84.91% of the population with the 1st dose and 80.24% of Brazilians with two doses or one dose of Janssen’s vaccine.

So far, 106,948,663 people have already taken the third dose, and 38,558,349, the fourth.

The initiative by the consortium of press vehicles occurred in response to the actions of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed bulletins about the disease and withdrew information from the air, with the interruption of the disclosure of total cases and deaths.
