Pavlakis to SKAI: “Tsunami” is coming – Thousands of Omicron cases are coming soon

by

In the aftermath of the scenarios for the spread of the Omicron variant and a much larger wave of cases, the Doctor-Researcher in the USA, George Pavlakis, estimated that a “tsunami” was coming.

“Unfortunately for a country like Greece, this is certain,” said the doctor, adding that we must avoid what happened in Portugal with Delta, which opened the holidays.

“Greece is being robbed by the Delta, it does not need Omicron either”, he said and explained that there will be a resurgence of the epidemic by both executives. “We do not know how pathogenic it is (Omicron strain), but it is irresponsible to reassure people about Omicron.”

Mr. Pavlakis also clarified that epidemic waves are natural phenomena, like fires, and we can modify them with timely action. “We must take action against the coming tsunami,” he said.

As he said, the basic solution is mass vaccination and especially with the 3rd dose. Also, the great restriction of contacts and tests, but without having to close completely.

“No matter what happens, we will not reach the desired levels, but that does not mean that we should not try,” he said, adding that “the most important thing is that our fellow citizens who have not been vaccinated are convinced by what is happening around them.” . “It will be impossible for them to avoid the Delta or the Omicron.”

Regarding the measures taken, he explained that “restrictions are necessary. “The faster they are, the softer they can be.”

He estimated, however, that in the near future we are expected to see thousands of cases of Omicron.

“This winter has turned out to be the worst. We will be in much better shape next year. “We will live with the coronavirus in the coming years,” he said.

Finally, Mr. Pavlakis stressed that since we do not have a global response to the pandemic with the same persistence, in some countries where there are no vaccines, a new mutation will appear every now and then and will spread everywhere.
