A new package of proposals for legislative changes and a new pharmaceutical strategy aimed at the accessibility and adequacy of medicines is expected to be presented by the Commission in the next two months, he stressed the Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Stella Kyriakidouspeaking on the main news bulletin of ERT a while ago.

He also stated that he responded today to the letter of the Minister of Health, Thanos Pleuris, underlining that the EU is on the side of Greece and other countries that need it.

In relation to the coronavirus, Ms Kyriakidou underlined that the EU is on alert and that the pandemic has not ended. “We must be prepared for a possible escalation” noted the European commissioner and stated that the picture of China is not clear, stressing that there must be determination and coordination of the member states.

“Transparency is important and I cannot rule out an increase in incidents,” Ms. Kyriakidou noted. Finally, he emphasized that vaccination and vaccines remain our shield and asked all citizens to proceed with a booster dose, because as he added “we cannot predict how the epidemiological picture will evolve in the member states”.
