Brazil recorded 130 deaths and 21,273 cases of Covid-19 this Tuesday (17). As a result, since the beginning of the pandemic, the country has lost 695,591 lives and 36,682,799 cases of the disease.

The moving average of deaths is now 80 per day, down 33% from two weeks ago. The average number of cases is 17,472, down 20% compared to the same period.

The data for the country, collected until 8 pm, are the result of a collaboration between Sheet, UOL, O Estado de S. Paulo, Extra, O Globo and G1 to gather and disseminate numbers related to the coronavirus pandemic. The information is collected daily by the consortium of press vehicles with the state Health Secretariats.

In all, 182,557,832 people received at least the first dose of a Covid vaccine in Brazil. Added to the single doses of Janssen’s vaccine, there are 172,821,213 people with both doses or one dose of Janssen’s vaccine.

Thus, the country already has 84.98% of the population with the first dose and 80.45% of Brazilians with two doses or one dose of Janssen’s vaccine.

So far, 108,018,821 people have already taken the third dose, and 39,873,640, the fourth.

With regard to children, 15,110,952 first doses (57.19%) were applied in the age group from 3 to 11 years and 10,472,282 second doses (39.63%).

The initiative by the consortium of press vehicles occurred in response to the actions of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, which threatened to withhold data, delayed bulletins about the disease and removed information from the air, with the interruption of the disclosure of total cases and deaths.
