by

The Ministry of Health will launch, next month, the documentary “Saúde no Limite da Dor”, about the work of the SUS (Single Health System) in caring for victims of the Kiss nightclub fire, in Santa Maria (RS). The tragedy completes ten years this Friday (27).

Divided into three episodes, the work is directed by the transvestite communicator Taya Carneiro, who manages the area of strategic projects in Communication of the Department of Emergencies in Public Health of the folder.

Through testimonials from agents who rescued the victims, the series will address the mobilization of SUS in the first hours after the fire and the importance of the presence of authorities at the scene, such as former president Dilma Rousseff (PT) and former minister of Health Alexandre Padilha.

The documentary will also show the welcoming of the victims’ families, the process of recognizing the bodies and transporting the antidote to cyanide, the toxic gas that caused many of the deaths at the nightclub.

The trailer for the documentary will be released next Thursday (2). Director Taya Carneiro celebrates the proximity of the date with Trans Visibility Day, since the film’s team was formed, mostly, by people from the LGBTQIA+ community.

“I feel that it is a victory for us to be able to occupy this space and show that transvestite and transsexual women have a lot to contribute to the development of the country”, she says.

The series, which began recording in December last year, will be available on the Ministry of Health’s social media. The work will also serve as didactic material for the Complex Biological Emergencies Course of the Public Health Emergencies Training Program (Profesp).
