This week, medical cannabis was presented as a treatment option at the CIOSP (International Dental Congress of São Paulo), which took place in the capital, from January 25th to 28th. The author of this debut was Endogen, a startup focused on health, recently launched on the market by the pharmaceutical company Zion MedPharma and the importer TegraPharma.
The company bets on a natural line for intraoral treatments, including CBD (Cannabidiol, a substance derived from Cannabis and with no psychoactive effect). The star of the line is the toothpaste and mouthwash, which contain 50mg of CBD and 50mg of CBG (Canabigerol, another Cannabis substance) in their composition.
The products do not contain fluoride or alcohol. “They are natural. Indicated for gum and periodontal diseases, improvement of the oral microbiota, with a great anti-inflammatory and tissue regenerating potential”, says the executive vice president of TegraPharma, Ana Gabriela Baptista.
Endogen also launched Zion MedPharma’s full spectrum CBD (500 mg in a 10 ml bottle) at the congress for patients suffering from pre-dental treatment anxiety. The oil is still indicated, according to the company, to control pain, ortofacial inflammation, head and neck muscle tension.
“CBD is already a treatment option for diseases such as bruxism in dental offices”, says orthodontist Angela Lei, with 20 years of experience in the area, and a regular visitor to CIOSP. “CBD mouthwash and paste are new, which I haven’t tried yet.”
