The issue of schools will be re-examined in the next ten days by the Commission, stressed in SKAI 100.3 the professor of Microbiology of Public Health at the University of West Attica and member of the infectious disease committee Alkiviadis Vatopoulos, when asked if the school holidays will be extended by one week.
Mr. Vatopoulos said that in theory such a possibility could be discussed, but clarified that it is not on the table at the moment, and everything will depend on how the pandemic will develop. He also clarified that we no longer have many cases in the ages of students, but of young adults from 18 to 40 years old.
Commenting on the statement of the Minister of Health for possible new measures earlier, as today at least 15,000 cases are expected, he revealed that yesterday Monday “in the Committee there was a discussion when the measures should start, some members insisted that they should start as soon as possible, but the opinion prevailed that also for social reasons, it was extended at least for the days of the New Year so that the people could have fun “. “If one sees it absolutely epidemiologically from the point of view of public health, we must close yesterday, as the saying goes, but because the state is looking at the realistic thing, the possibility of implementation, etc., it was finally decided by the State to do whatever it takes.
“We must all be very careful (…) we are facing a danger,” warned Mr. Vatopoulos.
