The president of the Panhellenic Medical Association, Athanasios Exadaktylos, spoke to SKAI 100.3 about studies that show, and it remains to be confirmed, that the person who suffers from the Omicron mutation also acquires immunity from Delta.
“The man who crossed the Delta is not immune from Omicron,” he said.
Mr. Exadaktylos stressed that those vaccinated with three doses should feel safe. “And those who are vaccinated next door are safe, but to do the third dose,” he stressed.
Omicron is a phenomenon that will evolve quickly with high peaks. We need calm, because the numbers will shock us, noted the president of the Panhellenic Medical Association.
He said that the new mutation will force us in January because the health system is already burdened by Delta. He also pointed out that it must be considered certain that the more infections there are, the more hospitalizations we will have.
In this context, he called on the unvaccinated over the age of 50 to hurry to get the vaccine, “because they are the ones who will ‘meet’ with Omicron and will be in the hospitals”.
“The message should not be passed on that (Omicron) is just a cold … It may be a simple cold in a large part of the population, but the large numbers will obviously cause a lot of serious incidents, and we will obviously have a problem,” he warned. on his part in SKAI the professor of Microbiology Alkiviadis Vatopoulos.
