The Thessaloniki Pediatric Hospital it will be ready in 2025, the health minister said Thanos Pleuriss, assuring that if necessary, the State will assist in any way so that this becomes a reality.

After meeting that he had in the morning with the commanders and deputy commanders of the 3rd and 4th Ministry of Health, Mr. Plevris, responding to a question regarding the developments in the issue of the Children’s Hospital of Thessaloniki, stated: “There is no problem with all three hospitals of the Niarchos Foundation and in fact “Niarchos” itself, yesterday, in a letter sent to the president of the Parliament and to the leaders of the parties, states that all efforts will be made. It was a process carried out by “Niarchos” itself, which turned out to be fruitless. From here on, all procedures will be carried out and in any case we assure that even as a State, if we need to assist in any way, if needed with a financial tool, this assistance will be provided. Not only is there no problem for “Pediatrics”, but it will be absolutely within the schedule that has been set so that in 2025 Thessaloniki will have a Pediatric Hospital with 33 additional ICU beds for children and the problem of the lack of ICU beds for children will be solved once and for all. that we have in Northern Greece”.

It is recalled that last week, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation had announced that the tender for the construction of the hospitals of Komotini, Pediatrics of Thessaloniki and Sparta was fruitless, due to the high amount of offers.

When asked if the Stavros Niarchos Foundation is oriented towards a re-announcement of the tender or a direct award for the construction of the three hospitals (Paediatrics, Komotini and Xanthi), he replied that this is the Foundation’s process. “We cannot indicate the process, but we know that the Foundation will take all the necessary actions so that there will be no problem, and we have complete trust and excellent cooperation with the Foundation all this time. So there should be no worries”, added Mr. Pleuris.

Regarding the meeting that he had with the administrators of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Plevris mentioned that the situation in the hospitals of Thessaloniki was discussed. “We are in a context where the pressure from the pandemic on the system is not great. Accordingly, little by little there is starting to be a balance in the part of the viruses and accordingly over here we are looking at the whole context and all the collaborations in order to have the best possible treatment”, he added.

As part of his visit to Thessaloniki, Mr. Plevris will visit the Evosmos Health Center and the AHEPA hospital, while at noon he will attend the opening of a new unit in Transbalkan Medicine.
