According to the latest data from the ECDC, Greece is in the 1st place of the European Union countries, in terms of performing diagnostic tests for COVID-19 disease.
In our country, rapid tests and PCR tests are performed daily, absolutely free of charge – and therefore without the need for a prescription – by the Mobile Units of EODY, as well as in the structures of the National Health System (Hospitals and Primary Health Care structures).
Free self tests are also available.
More specifically, we quote the numbers:
• From 1/5/2020 – 30/12/2021, EODY performed 8,759,556 diagnostic tests (7,642,167 rapid and 1,112,389 PCR) completely free of charge. These do not include the millions of diagnostic tests performed on NSS structures.
• In 2021, from April to the end of the year, 86,403,820 self tests were given free of charge to 7,669,956 citizens
• 1 in 5 cases was detected thanks to self tests (247,464 cases out of a total of 1,170,293).
• The amount of money allocated so far for the free test (self, rapid, PCR) exceeds 300 million euros.
