Children ask about vaccination against Covid-19, and scientist answers; listen up

Does the vaccine hurt or itch? How is it built? Why do children have to be immunized against Covid-19 if their symptoms are not usually so great? These are some of the questions that major stakeholders in the next phase of the country’s immunization plan sent to the Café da Manhã podcast. These are children aged 5 to 11 who should receive their first dose against Covid-19 in the next few days.

Vaccination of this group starts on Friday (14). The campaign will prioritize those with comorbidities, disabilities, indigenous people and quilombolas. Next, the Ministry of Health recommends that children living with people in the risk group be vaccinated. Finally, there will be a scaling by age group, starting with the oldest.

Specialists consider the immunization of children very important, not only to prevent them from getting sick, but because they can transmit the disease to more vulnerable people.

This Monday’s episode (10) brings together the doubts of eleven children about vaccination against Covid-19. The microbiologist Natália Pasternak, who is a researcher at USP and president of the Instituto Questão de Ciência, answers the children’s questions.
