On May 16, the president and CEO of Pfizer, Professor Albert Bourla, will be awarded an honorary doctorate of the Departments of Medicine and Pharmacy of the University of Patras.

His honoring ceremony will take place at 7 pm in the “Odysseus Elytis” ceremony hall of the University of Patras as part of a closed event.

The presence of Mr. Burlas in our country and especially in the academic institution of Patras, is one of the most important moments in its history and the institutions of the region should take advantage of his presence.

“He is one of the most important people in the world and of course it is a great honor to have him at our University,” the rector, Christos Bouras, told us, adding:

“He is a Greek of the diaspora and has never forgotten his country. I remind you that in Thessaloniki, as he is a graduate of the Aristotle University, he has implemented a very important Pfizer investment, through which he has secured 600 jobs and even high salaries».

To our question if the University’s administration expects any cooperation with Pfizer, Mr. Bouras replied: “We already have cooperation with the Pfizer Center in Thessaloniki and our effort is to strengthen it. In this effort, the University wants allies from all the agencies of the region. If we all go together, we will have the best possible results.”

Regarding Mr. Burla’s speech, its content has not yet been made known. It is likely that he will make an assessment of the coronavirus pandemic and the preparedness that should exist for future corresponding threats.
