ABC will ask the government of SP to limit the number of audiences in football

With an increase of up to 300% in patient care due to the ômicron variant of the new coronavirus or with flu syndrome, the ABC Intermunicipal Consortium will ask the scientific committee of the state government to set a public limit in the Copa São Paulo de Juniores football games. , currently in the classification phase, and the Campeonato Paulista, scheduled to start on the 23rd.

Since November of last year, there is no longer a limit on the number of fans who can enter São Paulo’s stadiums.

“There is special attention to [de aglomerações em] sporting and cultural events with a very large audience”, said Paulo Serra (PSDB), mayor of Santo André and president of the consortium, noting that ABC cities have headquarters and teams in the two state football tournaments.

The decision was taken this Tuesday morning (11), after a virtual meeting of the mayors who are part of the consortium, which includes Diadema, Mauá, Ribeirão Pires, Rio Grande da Serra, Santo André, São Bernardo do Campo and São Caetano. southern,

According to Serra, the consortium will also request an increase in transfers from the state and federal governments to expand the capacity of medical care. Numbers were not presented.

He mentioned actions that are being taken by municipalities, such as the transformation of sports equipment, in his city and in Diadema, for example, in offices for patients with flu syndrome.

The municipalities ruled out for the time being a joint action for restrictions on trade and the postponement of the return to school.

According to Serra, it was also decided that the consortium will meet every Tuesday to assess the situation and whether it will be necessary to take further measures.

Because of the omnitron, municipalities in São Paulo resumed restrictions. In Amparo (138 km from SP), shops can only work until 11 pm.

Last month, the Municipality of São Bernardo do Campo even limited the opening hours of trade, including shopping malls, bars, restaurants, convenience stores, concert venues and buffets, with mandatory closing of doors until 2 am. Last year, São Bernardo was one of the ABC cities that implemented a curfew and was the last in the region to release the opening hours of the trade, without restrictions.
