After a new surge in hospitalizations due to the omicron variant of the new coronavirus, the City of São Paulo announced the expansion from 443 to 1,110 exclusive beds for patients with Covid-19 in the municipal network.
On Wednesday (12), the city’s hospitals had 66% occupancy in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) beds and 69% in the infirmary.
In all, this Wednesday (12), 302 people with Covid-19 were hospitalized in the municipal network. The number is 125% higher than a week ago — the units managed by Ricardo Nunes (MDB) had 134 patients hospitalized with the disease on the 5th.
According to the Municipal Health Department, beds will be made available in municipal hospitals Tide Setúbal, Waldomiro de Paula, Brasilândia, Guarapiranga, Parelheiros, Cachoeirinha, Menino Jesus and at Professor Lydia Storópoli hospital.
It was also announced that 33 AMAs (Outpatient Medical Assistance), UBSs (Basic Health Units) and Integrated AMAs/UBSs will have their opening hours extended from 19:00 to 22:00, starting on Monday (17).
Another six units, which currently serve 12 hours, are now open 24 hours. 23 tents will also be set up.
The situation in the units has worsened in recent weeks with the advance of the ômicron and the influenza influenza epidemic, which led to the removal of about 1,600 municipal health workers, an increase of 111% compared to the beginning of December.
