With about 80% of adolescents immunized with two doses in the state of São Paulo, Hospital das Clínicas and the Faculty of Medicine of USP (University of São Paulo) in Ribeirão Preto last month published an advertisement recruiting volunteers aged 12 to 17 years. , who had not taken any vaccine against Covid-19, to participate in a study that tests the effectiveness of more than one dose of the Janssen vaccine.
According to pediatrician and professor at USP Marisa Mussi, about 20 adolescents were enrolled in the study. In the partnership project between the pharmaceutical company Janssen and USP, all adolescents enrolled in the study receive an active vaccine in the first dose. Then they are divided into six groups, three of which are immunized with a second dose, 57 days later, and the others receive placebos.
