Deputy Minister of Health Mina Gaga, speaking on SKAI 100.3, attributed the high number of deaths in our country to the “hard core” of the unvaccinated and the delay of patients with coronavirus to go to hospitals.
He rejected the criticism of the representative of SYRIZA Nasos Iliopoulos, pointing out that “he never said that we should not worry about deaths”.
“Responding to Omicron, I said,” Gaga said, “when we have so many thousands of cases, even with a mild infection we can have deaths.
She added that as a doctor at the NSS for the last 30 years, “she does not believe that anyone thinks for herself that deaths do not matter”.
He pointed out that among the 31 countries of Europe, Greece is in 14th place in terms of deaths, somewhere in the middle, that is, “although we would like to be in a better position”.
According to Ms. Gaga, we need unity, sympathy, and a common message regarding vaccination, wherever we belong politically, in order for us all to move forward together and overcome the pandemic.
From the first data, the minister explained, the sub-variation does not seem to be different from Omicron, it has an equally contagious clinical picture, it remains to be seen.
Regarding the possibility of a fourth dose, he clarified that it will not be needed, apart from the immunosuppressed.
