Due to the fires that are currently ongoing in the country, the Union of Pulmonologists of Greece recommends that citizens leave immediately for their own protection or, if this is not possible, stay in cool or air-conditioned areas, with windows and doors closed.

At the same time, it is considered appropriate to avoid unnecessary movements.

If you are traveling by car within this area, please keep the windows closed and the cabin air recirculation activated.

Caution in patients with respiratory problems

The Union of Pulmonologists of Greece recommends that patients with chronic respiratory problems, such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and bronchial asthma, be in constant contact with their doctor and receive their treatment systematically, according to his instructions.

Symptoms such as difficulty breathing, coughing or sputum discharge should be reported immediately to the treating pulmonologist. We urge you to avoid reckless use of electricity so that there is no chance of interruptions to respiratory patients who require continuous oxygen therapy.

The Union of Pulmonologists of Greece constantly monitors the developments and measurements for air quality, while it is willing through its members to assist at a nationwide level with all their powers if requested.
